A couple of years ago, I moved this blog onto the Graffiti CMS platform. I was mainly drawn to Graffiti because it was based on ASP.NET, and written by the same folks who make Community Server. Unfortunately, the platform never really took off as I had hoped, and a while back it was announced that Graffiti CMS was moving to be an open source project.

For several years, I have supported various friends and clients who had blogs hosted on the WordPress platform, so I decided that it was finally time to take the plunge myself.

Fortunately, I was able to find some great help online. Marc Mazzacca’s blog has a great article on doing the migration, which pointed me to this project from Jon Sagara which allows you to export Graffiti posts to the Movable Type export format, and this article from JefTek.com which also walked through the migration steps. I did not have any trouble importing the MovableType export package directly into WordPress.

The most tedious part of the process was setting up redirects from the old post URLs to the new post URLs, which I faithfully did for each and every post on my blog (good thing I don’t blog more!) using the Redirector plugin in WordPress.

I really can’t say enough how happy I am with WordPress. I love the abundance of plugins and themes that are available, and the administrative interface is simply fantastic.

Next on my list is to give the Android WordPress application a shot… :-)
